Religious Tolerance: The need for an Overdose

Who uses social media? No! Who doesn’t use social media? That sounds more correct compared to the former. In this age of social media, the hidden stupidity of people has been exposed and is now glaring to the eyes of the public. People you thought were exposed, open minded, liberal, sensible and matured now drop bombs of ignorance and fire missiles of stupidity. It’s like a war in the Middle East but this time, the only weapons used are weapons of mass incomprehension by the ignoramus battalion. So why am I ranting about the ignorance of my own species? Because I am fed up with them being so shallow minded especially when you don’t agree with it. One of the major areas that cause this type of problem is Religion.

Religion they say is the opium of the masses. Religion they also say is the identity of man. Man is a worshiping being. Take away religion from him and he will cling to something else. Religion is “supposed” to bring a form of sanctity into the life of man not the other way round. Religion is supposed to be a lamp guiding man’s feet on his journey through earth lest he stumbles and becomes unable to meet his maker. There are diverse religions from different parts of the world. A lot of similarities in principles but the whole essence of religion is coming to their maker even though through different mediums. And there is no religion at all (Atheism) where you just don’t believe in a maker and science has all the answers to your questions. But ironically, religion has been the cause of more than 80% of the wars in the world (so much for the breeder of man’s sanctity). Religion has monsters out of men made in comparison with the nobility it is assumed and required to bring. I really do care about the world and everything that happens but my primary focus will always be Nigeria because this is motherland. And you cannot be caught quenching fire in another man’s house while yours is ablaze.
There is a strong need to overdose everyone on “religious tolerance”. Left to me, I would suggest a subject is introduced to the primary and secondary school curriculum on “religious tolerance”. You know what they say right? Catch them young. Probably extend this subject up to the university level (it cannot be over emphasized). The entire country needs to be drunk on this one. This is the major cause of all the problems in this country. And the politicians here, they have mastered the craft of using it to their advantage. They have turned us all against each other and social media is the battlefield. We now fight a lost battle of conquering for our “God” or protecting our stance on religion. The conquest to dominate has eaten so deep, hate now resides in our heart for all those who do not share our religious views. All political situations in this country are religiously inclined.
When would we be tired of living in deceit? Have we not reached the point where we are in a state of awareness? How does a man’s inability to share your religious views make him any lesser than a human to the point his life holds no value to you? Why live in the millennium only to act like you are from the BC age. The social media has become the official avenue for promoting and spewing hate for other religion. I believe religious violence wouldn’t have reached this point if someone had not invented social media. Now boko haram can send videos to us and increase the already existing religious feud. Of course there will be an overflow of insensitivity. There comes the urge to condemn the religion and its followers in contrast to the need to protect your own and your religion. Lost causes, insensitive battles, unnecessary wars… Atheist thinks every religious person is stupid for believing there is a God and cannot stand anyone expressing that view. Christians believe atheists will all rot in hell for not believing in Christ and are convinced all Muslims are terrorists and are violent. Muslims believe those who do not believe Allah and worship him are infidels and some of them feel they should be killed. So, everyone is at each other’s throat. No sense of tolerance for everyone and their own beliefs. Take not that not all Christians, Muslims or atheists feel this way. There are still sane people like myself (you didn’t think I was one of the culprits did you?)

The point is there is beauty in diversity. The world would be boring if everyone shared the same views and ideas. There wouldn’t be any more and anything to challenge and disagree with. There are arguments on which reasonable people can disagree and religion is one of such. But what makes you learned is your ability to find a common ground with everyone irrespective of their beliefs. You are allowed to not blindly follow. You are entitled to your own views. But there is a need to live and let others live. It might not sit well with you but and that is okay. Many of the things you do don’t sit well with everyone so don’t be a little piece of s*** and act matured about it. Understand you have a duty to humanity to be as humane as possible. Let posterity judge you well. If we do not get this religious drama out of the way and really soon, we would send man into extinction about a million years earlier. Parents, please instill in your children the need to tolerate every other religion but theirs. Youths, be reasonable. Your zeal for the wrong things is what is wrong with the world. Everyone please pay attention to the voice of reasoning.

Analyzing The Bad Nigerian Electoral System, Bad Mentality And Culture Of Nigerian's Who are meant To Be Change Agents. WHAT WE HAVE TO DO

For a pack of salt or a bag of rice, w e have sold ourselves as slaves to the political elite. They breed lies as promises and dole out small money, and we receive without questions, we eat and are satisfied and wait for the next campaign to eat some more. While they enrich themselves for four years, waiting for the next election to share some more salt. Election day, majority aren't excited to take power into their hands, they lie at home, scared for their lives. How did we get here? We've been robbed of our franchise. How did we get here? WE GOT OUR SELVES HERE The masses have preferred illiterates as leaders, with promise of free education for all, I've seen that education... It's all smokes and mirrors. Children come out of schools in droves, but an insignificant number of them are educated. To the masses, N10,000 can be seen as a satisfactory reward for four years of robbery, and a motorbike donation mak

The "African" Woman

By: Onyekachi Nwitte-Eze Liberating the African Woman: Breaking the Chains of Silence and Subjugation From the moment she takes her first breath, the African woman is enveloped in a society that dictates her worth solely based on her gender. Born into a world where patriarchal norms reign supreme, she is indoctrinated with the belief that her existence revolves around serving men and conforming to societal expectations of marriage and motherhood. In this narrative, her voice is stifled, her aspirations secondary, and her autonomy relegated to the shadows. The essence of womanhood for the African woman is often reduced to her ability to bear children, maintain a household, and secure a husband. Stripped of agency and silenced by societal pressures, she internalizes the notion that her identity is incomplete without fulfilling these prescribed roles. Consequently, the pursuit of marriage becomes her primary goal, overshadowing her individuality and relegating her to a position of sub

True Federalism in Nigeria: The Slogan is not the answer

I have been seeing too many posts on Federalism recently that honestly, I cannot keep up anymore. The funny part is they are all saying the same thing; How Nigeria needs to practice it and it being the way forward. It is hilarious you know.  There has been serious agitation for true Federalism which became essential for the birth of this post.  Before I forget, let me explain what Federalism is to everyone.  “Federalism is a system of government in which power is divided between the Central (The Federal government) and the Federating Units (Regional or States Government).” Let us take a look at the United States of America who is always cited as an example of true Federalism. The American states came together to create the Federal government whereas in Nigeria, the Federal Government created the states. The reason why Federalism is more successful in the United States would be that the state possesses power as the federal government even though the Federal Government became
