Why are workers
precisely civil servants not being paid by their state government? There are
states that have been owing workers salary for over 10 months. The case of food
theft in the country is on the rise. Every day, there is a new story about a
missing pot of rice or a lost bowl of soup. Now why is that? The Federal
government disbursed bailout funds to enable the state government pay off the salary
of workers in the state. But the state government in their folly diverted the
funds to “more important” matters like travelling with long convoys, buying
landed properties and enriching their lives and the lives of their families at
the detriment of workers.
What could be more
important than paying people for a job they do? Obviously the state governments
pocket is. Can the state governors ever say there isn’t enough money so they
cannot afford to be paid? Can they ever owe their aids and their cohorts who
help them milk the people dry from their source of survival? God forbid. They
cannot be owed for one day or the earth rotation will be stilled. And night and
day shall no longer be seen as the Nigerian state governors are being owed an
amount of money.
I am pleased to inform
you that this will never end. NEVER!
For this to end, the immunity given to state governors should be removed. Yes! It
should be fed to the dogs. They should be stripped of whatever gives them the
conviction in their heart that they can rob for 4-8years before being
prosecuted for their fraudulent acts. This is first grade fraud and corruption
and if anyone thinks otherwise, you really should see a psychiatrist for a
brain check.
How can we let people
loot for 4-8 years in the name of immunity? When they have gathered enough
money to buy any judge and lawyer (those ones are just a corrupt lot) we start
pursuing them around the country and charging them to court? Court cases that
will probably never come to an end; the adjournment will forever be till he
dies and his grandchildren are grandparents. The way we condone this corruption
thing in this country really gives me a rash in my back and a running stomach. My
point is state governors should be purged. Impeached if that is what it takes
to make their states better. They spend 4-8 years, doing nothing except looting
the people’s hard earned money and run to the senate to spend the rest of their
lives in comfort and more looting.
The only time the
immunity given to state governors should be upheld is as regards to matters
dealing with the executive arm of government. Reason would be so no president
comes into power and impeach a governor out of spite or bad blood. Except in a
situation like this, the Immunity clause is only a license to loot in peace; a
strategy for governors to amass enough gold for the rainy days (when EFCC would
be on your trail).
After removing the
immunity clause, governors should be given two years to start performing. If there
is no sign that he has a plan for the state in the next two years or his plans
are as shallow as a 2 feet gutter like “Going to the farm on Thursdays and Fridays,
workers wearing uniform to work (that is the peak of empty headedness and shows
the lack of a brain functions in a functioning human). How does that even solve
any problem in the state? What a dehumanizing idea to make yourself feel like
an emperor in autocratic system of government whereas, we practice a democracy.
No respect for human dignity and the people obviously do not know their rights.
These governors leave important issues and problems ravaging their states and
focus on moronic ideas that does no betterment to their states or the lives of
the indigenes. They come and go as though they never came. You visit some
states and the first thought that crosses your mind is “Is there a governor in
this state?” We refuse to continue like this. We can no longer condone this
type of emptiness from people in power. Workers must be paid for the jobs they
do. Workers must be respected and their source of livelihood should not be cut
out because of the greed and stupidity of some so called state governors. Workers
should be treated as noble people and not subjected to a life of ridicule and
begging.
This is the sad tale of a Nigerian worker
