VIOLENCE: Does this have an end?

Title: Breaking the Silence: Ending the Cycle of Abuse

Do you ever feel like a broken record when addressing the pervasive issue of domestic abuse? It’s understandable if you do. The conversation may feel tiresome, repetitive, and perhaps even futile at times. But let’s revisit it once more, for the 1001st time, because the urgency to break this cycle cannot be overstated.

Charly Boy’s poignant words strike at the heart of a deeply ingrained societal issue: the emotional fragility of many men leading to violence and abuse. It’s a sobering realization that challenges traditional notions of masculinity and strength. When men resort to using physical or emotional violence, it’s not a display of power; it's a manifestation of weakness.

Let’s acknowledge the uncomfortable truth: women bear the brunt of this violence. They endure physical and emotional trauma at the hands of partners who lack the emotional maturity to manage their own feelings. It’s a vicious cycle perpetuated by a toxic blend of entitlement and insecurity.

But it’s not just men who perpetuate this cycle; it’s also the silence of women. The societal pressure to maintain a façade of marital harmony, to endure suffering in silence, is deeply ingrained. Yet, silence only serves to embolden abusers and perpetuate the cycle of violence.

To break free from this cycle requires courage. It requires women to recognize their inherent worth and value, independent of societal expectations or marital vows. Your life is not expendable in the name of preserving a marriage. Your safety and well-being are paramount.

Seeking help is not a sign of weakness; it’s an act of strength. Whether it’s confiding in a friend, reaching out to a support group, or seeking professional assistance, know that you are not alone. There are resources available to help you reclaim your autonomy and rebuild your life free from fear and violence.

To the men who recognize their role in perpetuating this cycle: it’s time to confront your own demons. Seek help to address your emotions in healthy and constructive ways. Real strength lies in vulnerability and self-awareness, not in dominating others.

Breaking the silence requires collective action. It requires challenging societal norms and dismantling the structures that enable abuse to thrive. It requires empathy, compassion, and a commitment to fostering healthy relationships built on mutual respect and equality.

Let’s rewrite the narrative. Let’s break the silence. Let’s end the cycle of abuse, once and for all.

True Federalism in Nigeria: The Slogan is not the answer

I have been seeing too many posts on Federalism recently that honestly, I cannot keep up anymore. The funny part is they are all saying the same thing; How Nigeria needs to practice it and it being the way forward. It is hilarious you know.  There has been serious agitation for true Federalism which became essential for the birth of this post.  Before I forget, let me explain what Federalism is to everyone.  “Federalism is a system of government in which power is divided between the Central (The Federal government) and the Federating Units (Regional or States Government).” Let us take a look at the United States of America who is always cited as an example of true Federalism. The American states came together to create the Federal government whereas in Nigeria, the Federal Government created the states. The reason why Federalism is more successful in the United States would be that the state possesses power as the federal government even though the Federal Gove...
